Sigmund Freud explained that the mind is a complex energy-system; broad spectrum of human behavior is explainable only in terms of the -usually hidden- mental processes or states, which determine it. Freud believed that some of the responses and behaviors of human beings are significantly associated and determined by the hidden causes in the individual's mind. This suggests that whenever the people make a choice, they are ruled by the hidden mental processes of which the people are unaware and over which they have no control over. The human consciousness could be represented as an iceberg. The large bulk of the iceberg that lies below the surface of the water could be relate to the unconsciousness of humans, while the tip of the entire iceberg relates to the unhidden part, the conscious mind. Just like the iceberg, the hidden unconsciousness has a dynamic and determining influence over the tip of the iceberg, the consciousness that could be seen as direct inspection.
