Washington Square Washington Square is a non-profit literary journal publishing fiction, poetry and essays by emerging and established writers. It is edited and produced biannually by the students of the Graduate Program in Creative Writing at New York University. Washington Square was established in 1989 and is distributed nationally by Ingram Periodicals Inc. in LaVergne, Tennessee and Ubiquity in New York, New York. It is seldom found in bookstores so interested readers must subscribe to the magazine or order it over the Internet. This is a downfall because it hinders the extent of Washington Square’s circulation, but I was happy and fortunate enough to be able to pick up the latest issue at our very own Panther Bookstore. Washington Square is composed of a very sizeable staff. The editor-in-chief for the past two issues has been Ben Rhodes who has also been on the fiction board of this magazine for at least four issues (issues 7, 8, 9, and 10). The managing editor is Matt Valentine and the assistant managing editors are Charles Burm and Sarah Kain. The rest of Washington Square’s staff consist of the fiction editor, associate and assistant fiction editors, the poetry editor, associate and assistant poetry editors, the marketing director, marketing assistants, layout editor, art editor, poetry board and fiction board.
