They just don’t make them like they used to anymore. Back in the days when shows on TV were just that, shows, they entertained us and gave us our daily dosage of humor or moral of the day. As time passed and technology improving everyday, TV was able to expand its market and with that, along with time, made people more tolerant of its everyday availability. We as a society, over the next few decades craved more and more originality, variety and eventually edginess from what were used to watching. We are the generations to finally embed television into our way of life. We have made it a part of our lives and culture, where even television itself is its own culture. Now we are infested with a new type of TV program, “reality” TV, but do not let the title fool you for, reality TV is anything close to actual reality. When TV first came out, it was used for news and shows that did not distract us from our real lives, our actual everyday, working lives. Now it’s for some people, all they do with their lives. It is not to say that everyone watches TV all the time, but it has become more than just an hourly routine in our lives. We want to be entertained but our attention spans are short. Today’s people can’t focus on one thing for long, we are into multi-tasking more than ever and we all basically want the “bottom line” to make things short and sweet for us. It’s as though we don’t even want to think anymore, just be entertained where the less we think the better. We have lost the eagerness and anticipation that came in classic shows like the Twight Light Zone, or Alfred Hitchcock films.
