Adams song is a song about death, suicide, depression and remorse. Adam the subject of the song is singing a suicide note meant for a close friend or relative though not his mother. Why he is killing himself though is a mystery, we are never told although We assume he is having problems at home or maybe at school. We can make this assumption from the third verse I played to you. Adams note is saying “another 6 months I’ll be unknown” i.e. his parent/parents won’t really miss him. It could also be talking about the media’s gross representation of modern day youth today “another 6 months I’ll be unknown” i.e. even the journalist that writes an article on him won’t remember.
