Italy is the home of one of Europe’s deadliest volcano, Mt. Vesuvius. Mt Vesuvius is in southern Italy and is closest to the city of Pompeii and dominates the bay of Naples. Perhaps one of the deadliest eruptions ever in the year 79 AD when it buried the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. That eruption buried the whole town and killed nearly everyone in the city which is thousands of people. When the eruption occurred for the first 18 hours of the eruption there was just ash and pumice.
