The Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, located in Hong Kong, was completed in 1985. The architect, Norman Foster, has been responsible for 15 important buildings: Tanaka Business School in London-England, the City Hall in London-England, and the Petronas University of Technology in Mayalsia, to name just a few of his accomplishments. When Norman Foster designed the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, it came to be considered a modern wonder of the world. The Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank is a steel and glass high-rise building/skyscraper and it is the tallest man-made steel structure in the world. This new skyscraper replaced the old Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank structure, which had been the first fully air-conditioned building in Hong Kong before it was demolished for Foster・s new structure. Foster・s structure style is a new high-tech modernism called :Structural Expressionism.; This specific style displays their structural elements visibly both inside and outside of the building.
