PA dogs life is not a happy one
Photo documentary for Eng402 A dog’s life is usually portrayed as rather carefree and lazy; one many people would like to live. In this document I have chosen to portray that the every day life of a dog isn’t as rosy and simple as is seen by many people. In the past weeks, I have constructed my very one-sided version of a dog’s life, which will make the reader question our societies dominant ideology. I wanted to show the day in the life of a dog and make the reader see how miserable and unhappy it really is. To do this I had to plan a series of photos promoting only the negative aspects of the dog’s life. In my first shot I wanted to show the dog leaving his kennel first thing in the morning. I have chosen this shot to highlight cold and uncomfortable conditions a dog is forced to endure night after. It is a far cry from what everyone in this room sleeps in at night. Most of us will crawl up in our nice warm beds while our dogs sleep outside. I have used a high shot to maximise the miserable the dog is. I then went on to show the dog in the middle of the back yard. This shot shows how small and insignificant the dog is and how vast and wide the land is in which he lives. I have used a long shot – High angle in this shot to show the lonesome and emptiness of the dog’s life and I have foregrounded the space and marginalised any people in the backyard. In the shot three, I have taken a shot of the dog looking down at his empty bowl. I have done this to show that a dog is fully dependent on a human being. They can not just go and grab some food from the refrigerator like all of use can. I have used a high angle shot to show the incapability of the dog. I wanted to show how a dog is left out of most family activities even though they are supposable men’s best friend.
