Diabetes An epidemic is defined as spreading rapidly and extensively by infection among many individuals in an area. Although not contagious, it seems diabetes has inevitably invaded the health and well-being of countless individuals in our world today. Has diabetes become an epidemic to the point where it affects 150 million people each year? It seems that we have grown accustomed to assume that diabetes is a normality, when in reality, people are helplessly losing their lives in the name of diabetes. My grandfather was regretfully one of those who lost his life due to this illness, specifically Type 2 diabetes.
