Teachings of Religious Leaders
As civilizations began to flourish, a value system needed to be devised in order for a general understanding between people to be formed. What better way to create a value system then to form religious groups. At this important time three of the world’s greatest and most powerful religions that are still followed today were formed. Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism were all founded by great leaders, some with similar belief backgrounds, but all with very different and unique messages. In order for these religions to grow and have followers they all required a great, powerful, respectable and unique leader to guide and teach them the correct ways to lead their religious lives. One of the world’s most powerful religions, Christianity, was taught by Jesus. Jesus was born a Jew and his message and teachings would be brought to non-Jews ironically by a fellow Jew named Paul. Paul converted to Christianity and is responsible for the religions quick spread. Jesus’ teachings were rather simple and focused mainly on goodness. Jesus taught equality and love for all despite and actions people may have had taken. Jesus taught his followers not to sin. He himself never committed a sin and it is believed that he dies due to the sins of others, which were forgiven by God upon his death. However Jesus did believe in forgiveness. If a person committed a sin and was seeking forgiveness, they had to ask God for forgiveness and acknowledge their sin in order to be reconciled with God. Jesus taught his followers that salvation is God’s gift. God gives the gift of salvation to those who accept Christ. Christian’s do not earn salvation instead they are rewarded with salvation. Christians were taught to live every day by doing good works. Christians live to serve God.
