The automobile is a prominent symbol of American culture. To most Americans a car is one of the most important things in their lives and serves as more than just transportation. Sometimes you can tell a lot about a person by their car. It can symbolize social status, life style, personality and many other things. To many Americans the car is a hobby; to drive around, improve and maintain, or just to own. To the brothers in this story, Lyman and Henry Jr., their car was all those things and more.
