Ben Strohecker was a successful manager as well an effective leader. Ben’s secret to success was not the ingredients only but also the management style he possessed. Ben successfully exercised Expert and Referent power. Expert power is a power that accrues to someone based on the information or expertise that they possess. Ben Strohecker practiced expert power during his early days. He used to ask people what type of chocolate they would like to eat before they die he then obtained consumer taste by effective market research. Referent power takes the form of charisma, an intangible attribute of the leader that inspires loyalty and enthusiasm. Ben effectively used the Referent power by trusting heavily on his employees. He allowed his employees to design new products and suggest production changes. In return workers believed in him and his product and most importantly people love working at his business. Ben’s style is to mentor employees.
