UNICEF is working to get all children into school, keep them there, and ensure that when they are in school, children learn what they need to learn. These are long-term processes. The improvement of educational services and the achievement of better learning require well-managed schools, good teachers, and appropriate facilities, curriculum, and materials, as well as a commitment by governments and a capacity to deliver service. The participation of students, parents, and communities — along with public demand for quality education — helps feed the process. Most of the costs described here are small, per-unit costs.
