Spoilers are contained from the Matrix Revolutions, Matrix Reloaded, and the original Matrix movie. Do not read if you have not seen Revolutions or the other two. The Matrix trilogy's message is that choice is the key to control of your life. The Wachowski brothers make this very clear by labeling characters and major players in the Matrix such as Agent Smith as "programs". Becuase Neo is able to choose his fate, unlike the other fives "The One"'s, he is able to defeat Smith in the end.
