When asked the question, “How do we stop teen pregnancy,” the only answer that comes to mind is sterilization. The truth is, teen pregnancy prevention does not exist. It is a hope, a wish, and a desperate need in today’s society. Unlike prevention, teen pregnancy definitely lives. It may never become extinct, but with sexual education, proper condom and birth control use, teen pregnancy can certainly become an endangered species. The only way to fix any problem is by finding the root of it. It is no big secret, teen pregnancy is caused by unsafe sex, but what compels teenagers into involving themselves in this unprotected practice? It is sheer stupidity. Honestly, most teenagers feel as though they are invincible, and their parents are not going to tell them any different. Instead, they will rather wait for the schools to inform their children about the consequences of having unsafe sex. Unfortunately, the government spends over a billion dollars a years trying to keep safe sex programs out of the school system, and replaces them with abstinence programs. True, the safest sex is no sex, but being protected is safer than no protection at all.
