Benjamin Franklin was the 15th of 17 children in the Franklin, home. He was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston Massachusetts. Were he had a peaceful childhood with his father, Josiah Franklin, who worked as a skillful mechanic to support his family and was married to his second wife Abiah Folger. Benjamin had many careers during his life, some of them include: a scientist, inventor, printer, and philosopher, but later he became both a spokesman and a model for the national character of America. When Benjamin was 13, his older brother James came home from England with a printing press. Benjamin quickly started using the press to do work for his father and brother. In 1721 James started the New England Current paper.
