8TH AMENDMENT Excessive bail shall not be required, This states that bail cannot be set at levels that don't correspond to the seriousness of the crime Nor excessive fines imposed, This would make it illegal to impose fines that would seek to bankrupt a person or company. Nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Prohibits people from meeting out "creative" punishments to other people who commit dastardly crimes. Originally, it was intended to outlaw things like flogging, putting people in the stocks and other medieval types of punishment.
