The short story “Casualties” written by Megan Martin, is a story whose theme is about recollections, and subtheme about school and peers. The speaker in the story is the narrator. This narrator is a girl who had a relationship with David in the past. In the quotation the narrator explains that even if they tried to find out how the boy died. It wouldn’t make a difference because nobody would want to do anything about it. The fact that the narrator makes it sound like the boy died physically it makes you wonder if he really died or did he just die emotionally?
