Feature Films are just entertainment

When I watch movies, I watch with the intention of being entertained, not to have morals beat into me or be preached to. I want a quick escape from the real world and I bet most of you want the same thing. All we want is to be entertained and for a few hours forget about homework and the other drudgery of our lives. I believe feature films are made to entertain us, other than that their main goal is to bring in MONEY! But to say that feature films are not supposed to make us think is a narrow minded comment. Of course some films do challenge our thoughts and feelings but most of the time viewers don’t even notice the issues that are raised. They just want to be entertained. Don’t you all agree? Every movie we watch issues are raised to challenge us. It just depends if we bother to take notice. Let’s take William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet directed by Baz Luhrmann. I’m pretty sure everyone has seen this film and is pretty familiar with the play. The issues represented in Shakespeare’s original script are still present; however they have been manipulated to bring in the big bucks of the box office. The issues basically challenge our thinking of love and passion. But who really wants to challenge their values and attitudes while watching a movie?
