Why is There Evil
For all of time, there has been a battle between good and evil. Through out the fight, good has almost always come above evil and badness. Even so, I have often wondered why there is a fight in the first place. I questioned why evil exists and what it actually is. And why, if so many people live to please their God, is there a constant temptation of doing good or bad. In spiritual terms, evilness is a devil, or spiritual force, which tempts us to do bad and evil things. Some people believe that evil is what happens when things like money or love are taken away. Others see evil as a choice we make to harm someone else. As humans, most importantly Catholics, we are constantly being forced to choose between good and evil because we have free will. God gives us freedom to choose what we do, and if he were to take away our freedom, he would be contradicting his wishes for us as human beings. Catholics believe that evil is the abuse of the gifts God gave us. They also believe that evil exists because of original sin, when the first humans went against god’s wishes, and disobeyed him.
