“Do the work of an Evangelist” - 2 Timothy 4: 5 “I’m going to preach His birth, death, and resurrection. I’ll preach it until Jesus comes.” - Billy Graham Billy Graham God’s Messenger For over fifty years, Billy Graham has held crusades preaching the Word of God. “He has preached in more than 185 countries and territories. He has spoken to more than two billion people at crusades, through radio, TV, and satellite broadcast- arguably more people than any single evangelist in history” (Drummond 12). Billy Graham has been spiritual and diplomatic council to Presidents. He held his first crusade at Los Angeles California in 1949; the crusade continued for eight weeks and set the tone for the beginning of a worldwide ministry. William (Billy) Franklin Graham, III, was born November 7, 1918. His mother, Morrow, and father, Franklin, were children of civil war veterans. Billy grew up on the family dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. His family lived in the plank house that Billy’s grandfather, Crook Graham, built after the civil war. The dirt roads, forest, and fields of his childhood gave way to progress. Now skyscrapers, industrial parks, and apartment buildings stand in the playground of his youth. There is a marker on the lawn of the IBM tower where his home once stood that is inscribed: “Billy Graham is one of the giants of our time, truly a man of God. The force of his spirit has ennobled millions in this and other lands. I salute him with deep affection and profound respect.” Richard Nixon President of the United States, and under a bronze bas-relief of Billy’s visage, the given epigraph, Birth place of Dr.
