He reduced the powers of the Nobles, taking them away from their land, the main source of their power. When Louis XV had taken the throne, he allowed social and political positions to be bought by wealthy commoners, pushing nobles further. There were three estates in France during the French Revolution: the Clergy, Nobles, and the Commons. The clergy were representatives of the church and served as judges, Nobles were militaristic, and lastly the commons, or bourgeoisie, who were peasants as well as wealthy land owners. Having these estates of three kinds, Louis XVI wanted to bring all the classes into a government. Louis XVI had great believes and values with his accomplishments and skill.
