Peace of Mind - (w/ 4 works cited)
Peace of Mind When American citizens turn on the television, get on the Internet, or pick up a newspaper, the image of US troops in Iraq, inevitably with a gun in their hand, bombards them. In today’s society, people see fifteen seconds worth of news bytes on television primarily designed to sensationalize and grab viewers’ attention. The Internet furnishes people with dazzling headlines and gruesome pictures. Newspaper articles go into more detail, but writer's still subject Americans to their opinion. All media is a good source of information, but they only begin to scratch the surface. The ideas and images portrayed do not provide in depth information that people should base strong opinions on. The population as a whole formulates diverse opinions daily from many different sources regarding the war with Iraq. Further investigation of the facts would lead society to find several legitimate reasons for the United States continuing to be a presence within Iraq. For instance, recent polls indicate that people are reconsidering their original conception that the US needs to continue its’ occupation of Iraq for diplomatic reasons and not only for the War on Terror.
