hamlet act3 sc3 analysis
Hamlet Act3 Sc3 is one of the shortest scenes in the entire play but is still one of the most important and effective. The scene starts with conversation between the King, Guildenstern and Rosencratz. The King is ensuring they are aware of what is to be done to Hamlet (He is to be sent to England and Killed). When they leave and Polinous the King gets his first chance to reflect on the murder, he is then interrupted by Hamlet. This scene is dramatically significant in the context of the whole play, it exposes Claudius’ true character and emphasises Hamlets inability to perform effectively, it also shows clearly the relationship between the two characters clearly. Finally it exposes the corruptness of the regime. Shakespeare manages to display so much in one scene through magnificent language, striking imagery and flawless stage action. The dramatic effect that the scene has on the reader cannot be argued. The scene cements Hamlets fate with Claudius claiming that Hamlet is a danger to the kindom and so should be brought to England and killed. This suggestion by Claudius also confirms for the reader his guilt.
