Is God Existant? In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…..or was it the big bang? There are many that argue that God does exist but it is only through faith that he actually exists. Then there are those who say that God is just a figment that we as humans place in front of us to make our lives a lot easier when we are put through tough times, or have to deal with the government or other trying areas of our lives. We also have those that try to prove God through The Principle of Sufficient Reason. Nothing just is without a reason of why it is. Everything that is has some adequate or sufficient reason of why it is. Take me for instance. I am here because my parents decided to have a kid and that reason is why I am here. Say you say rabbit suddenly appear on a table in front of you, you would be surprised as to how it got there and you would begin to think of ways that this rabbit could have gotten to this table with out you seeing or hearing it come in. You wouldn’t just think that the rabbit just appeared without a cause. There has to be some reasonable explanation for how this rabbit got to this table. Did it fall from the ceiling? Did someone place it there when I was not looking? There has to be some reason weather it was a physical cause: someone placing the rabbit on the table, or psychological cause: perhaps you were hypnotized. As a last resort sometimes we look for a supernatural cause, a miracle. No matter how hard you think about it there has to be some cause for the rabbit being on that table. In the same sense we as humans have to have a cause in being here on earth. If there were no first cause, then the universe is like a great chain with many links. Each link is held up by the link above it, but the whole chain is held up by nothing. Being that the whole universe is maid up of thousand upon millions of causes, there has to be something that started a cause that formed this chain of causes. Your parents caused you, your grandparents caused your parents, and your great grandparents caused your grandparents and so on. No one would be here without those billions of causes. And without a first cause there would be no explanation as to how any other causes were started. An example of this would be the analogy of a train. If you have a long train, and there is no engine then that train does not move. Each car’s motion is explained prominently by the motion of the box car in front of it.
