I am writing in response to a letter printed in your March 25th issue called “ The Matrix – just another sci-fi movie.” I fell that the view of the film which given by Mr Smith, in the letter of it “just being a another sci-fi action film” is, without a doubt incorrect, on the contrary, “The Matrix” is more than a mere sci-fi film that Hollywood seem to cram down our throats every month or so, but a multi-layered philosophical and sociological analysis of our world and humanity as a whole. Firstly, on the sociological side, the entire concept of the Matrix as a prison where the people inside are unaware of their own captivity by the “evil” machines, is in great many ways far more humane than anything the humankind has ever or probably put in to place.
