Caffeine is a mild stimulant that has the effect of making you feel more awake and alert. A high dose may make you feel jittery and may prevent sleep. Tea, coffee, and soft drinks are the major sources of caffeine. Each cup of caffeine can provide approximately between 65mg to 115mg of caffeine. A cup of tea usually has about 60mg of caffeine in it. A soft drink may contain between 30mg and 60mg of caffeine. 70 percent of UK adults drink coffee and 86 percent drink tea. An average person consumes over 3 and half cups of coffee a day. Tea consumption the UK is at a similarly high level. The founder of caffeine was Aztec Montezuma.
