Ways to Discipline Children Although there are several ways to discipline children, the means of discipline all possess the same goal of teaching the child good and bad behaviors. While attempting to accomplish this goal there are two separate paths to choose, positive or negative reinforcement. The most positive approach is to praise the child’s good behavior. The child generally wants to please the parent. By reinforcing the good behavior, the child will recognize the behavior and repeat the behavior for the approval of the parents.
