Maricela In the movie “Maricela”, Maricela who is a little girl that escaped from the war in El Salvador with her mother, to the United States. They were illegally immigrating. So as they are in the U.S., they are both staying with Maricela’s cousin’s house. One day when Maricela, got back from school and she wanted to visit her mother at her work. So when she went there, she saw the police (la migra) at her mother’s work. Maricela got really scared because she thought that the police had taken her mother back to El Salvador. So she ran to her cousin’s house, and then she saw her mother there. She told her mother how panic she was. Her mother then said that it is dangerous to be doing that job, because she can get caught by the police.
