Lebanon Lebanon is located on the eastern border of the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon is torn by conflict and war, and it abounds in poverty. In this project, I will show: how their government runs, who their leaders are, their language, and the hard facts about the country. I will also show you a comparison of how the government runs in Lebanon as compared to the government of the United States. (Brittanica) Lebanon is a republic. They elect a president like the United States who appoints the prime minister. The president and prime minister head the executive branch. Like the Legislative Branch of the United States, the National Assembly makes the laws in Lebanon. There are 128 assemblymen in the Assembly who are elected to four-year terms. To maintain a political balance between Christians and Muslims, the government has traditionally been made up of the members of both groups on a proportional basis. Lebanon is divided onto five provinces, each of which is headed by a governor.
