Napoleon's Background
Artists portrayed him gloriously. Napoleon said "power was his mistress". He knew he was important from his birth. There were three things he believed in: pride, revenge, and honor. As a child, he exchanged the white bread his mother gave him for food rations from a soldier. He believed in a French Republic and wanted to see the Monarch fall. Napoleon was a believer in "lead by example". At a young age, he was allowed to command the French army in Italy.
