The hype over Big Brother, the adventure of Survivor, the over-casting loves at Temptation Island and the suspiciousness of the Mole. How do these titles relate to one another? All of these television programs listed have one thing in common; they all come under the category of ‘reality television’. Now this reality television has become one of the most intriguing, attention seeking genres all over the world. In Australia itself, the majority of homes are attracted to these types of programs every single night. Why do people watch others leading ordinary lives as a form of enjoyment in entertainment? Firstly, let’s bring across the program ‘Big Brother’. At the moment it is the number 1 watched program all over the Australia. But what is it that attracts so many viewers? I mean think about it, 12 people in one big house. There are 6 males and 6 females being watched 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
