Tainted AmericanaHow We Judge the Americas Unloved, Ugly, and Misfortunate
We judge people in this country based on what you have, what you ware, and perhaps worst of all what you look like. We learn the nasty little habit of judging people at an early age, causing us to view America not as a country, but a land full of the Jones. This paper looks at the way that we label people and judge each other. We place labels and stereotypes on each other today, the same way they handed out polio vaccines in the forties. These labels have a huge impact on those unfortunates who bare them, causing long lasting mostly negative memories. These labels are a way for people to take the negative glare of society off them. The four groups that we examine: the obese, disabled, teenagers, and the elderly are commonly “labeled and stereotyped by society. The first and most common groups labeled are the obese. They have become easy targets for a society that places such high standards on looks. It can be argued that society does not place such labels on the obese, however it can also be argued that the holocaust never happened.
