El Greco was born in Candia in 1540. His name means the Greek. He drew pictures of the Christian Religion, like Jesus. He got 1000 ducados for the painting of the Espolio for the Cathedral of Santo Domingo. The 1000 ducados he got satisfied a person for 2 years back then. He moved To Venice in 1566 and stayed there for 4 years until 1570.
