Attention Getter: Ocasionally we come across people whose behavior is neither predictable nor understandable. Acting as if they live in a radically different world, they make us feel uncomfortable and even scared. For example, a man stops in the middle of the street to yell at unseen people, or a woman calls out to a stranger’s child as if the child was her own. Explanation Statement: For as long as humans have been on this earth, there have been people in the world who behaved in bizarre or inexplicable ways. We now associate such behaviors as evidence of schizophrenia. According to the Mayo Clinic we as young adults are in the age range 18-25 where schizophrenias onslaught begins to manifest itself. After taking a psychology class that went into depth about Schizophrenia, and doing my own personal research on the disease I quickly gained interest on the topic.
