Pete Rose Baseball has been the world’s greatest past time for a very long time, but just like life baseball is not perfect. The life span of baseball has stretched for decades and will continue to go on for many more years. The game brings great fun and happiness for everyone who plays or is involved. It is very unlikely to believe that anybody associated in Major League Baseball or any aspect of the game could not be having fun doing so. For one man the reality of being tortured by the game of baseball has lasted for more than fourteen years. Pete Rose, who’s nickname is Charlie Hustle, played for major league baseball from 1963-1986 for three different organizations. Those three teams he played for are the Cincinnati Reds, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Montreal Expos. Pete Rose was also the field manager of the Cincinnati Reds from 1986-1989. On August 23, 1989 Pete Rose was declared permanently ineligible for life from Major League Baseball. The ban was conceived from the violation of rule 21 in the baseball guidelines and rule books. Rule 21 reads that no player in Major League Baseball can gamble on the game of baseball. Pete Rose was banned from the game that he loved and the life he created because he got caught up in the wrong crowd of people. Certain people that thought they new the facts and came out in the press with the wrong incriminating information. With the ban he also forfeits his privilege of being elected into the baseball Hall of Fame where he rightfully belongs. Pete Rose has been honored in every possible way except for the one that matters the most and that is the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Pete Rose should be let back in Major League Baseball and elected to the Hall of Fame because he is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Pete Rose is the kind of baseball player that many people in this generation will probably never see again. That is because he is an all around baseball player and does not just have one skill that makes him stand out. Instead, Rose has stood out as a player in every situation he has tried to accomplish in professional baseball. Rose is the all time career hits leader with 4,256 hits. He is also the career leader in singles (3,215), at-bats (14,053), and games played (3,582).
