The Social Progress of Women in relation to A League of Their Own is demonstrated through the story of a significant, yet faintly recognized stepping stone in women's history. During World War II, our nation called upon all able men to defend our country against its enemies, resulting in an alteration in the gender barrier roles in society. Women were called upon to carry out their patriotic duties by taking over where the men left off: in factories, offices and even the baseball field. A League of Their Own (1992) tells the story of America’s first Women’s Professional Baseball league.
