school and real world
Schools and the Real World Education is one of the most important tools that a society possesses. The right implementation of this tool is one of the greatest ways of assuring the quality of life within a society. Yet, Schools today feed children with an empty spoon; they are not provided a rich curriculum or instructional practices from the real world that would produce high achievements. More and more students graduating from high school are not prepared to do college-level work or achieve sufficiently in entry-level jobs because many schools teach students by forcing them to recite mindlessly from books, discouraging students’ bright imaginations. Schools systems now are not teaching students what they need to know, or students graduating from schools are not educated as they should be. The poor quality of education introduced in our schools today is based on no other source of education other than accumulating knowledge from school books, knowledge that is usually not used in anything except answering test questions. Furthermore, many of these books information is often unfocused, fragmented, and sometimes downright wrong. According to Walton, Marsha “With a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Hubisz examined dozens of physical science texts for middle schools, and found scores of errors. Among them: •A map showing the equator running through Texas and Florida, when it's actually about 1,500 miles south. •A discussion of sound that says humans cannot hear below 400 hertz. But 47 notes on a piano are below 400 hertz.”(qtd. In Science texts not always by the book). Furthermore, According to studies by The American Association for the Advancement of Science, kids are lugging home heavy books full of disconnected facts. They say the books don't teach them well. Therefore, children lack the engagement with real world facts either in their school books or in their daily life.
