Capitalism As an American you are taught to believe at a young age that democracy and capitalism are the best forms of government. We are taught in history that our sturdy democracy was able to defeat tyrannical forces who wanted to promote evil. We are to believe that the communist nations of Russia, Cuba, and any other nation of communism or socialism was a threat to our well being. Our well being of course was the fruits of our capitalist economy. We are to believe most of our power and well being is because we are a capitalist country. Two main features of capitalism are competition and private property. Proponents of capitalism will say that competition and private property are two of the things which foster economic growth, however Karl Marx has a different look towards capitalism, private property and competition. One thing supporters of capitalism support is the right to own private property. The view is that if you are smart enough and work hard enough then you deserve the right to own and run your own corporation. And corporation are own of the key elements to a capitalist system.
