Recent advances in MEMS technology have resulted cheap and portable devices with formidable sensing, computing and wireless communication capabilities [1][ A network of these devices could be invaluable for automated information gathering and distributed micro-sensing in many civil, military and industrial applications. The use of wireless medium for communication provides a flexible means deploying these nodes without any fixed infrastructure, possibly at some inhospitable terrain. Once deployed, they should require minimal external support for their functioning. Wireless sensor networks pose many new challenges primarily because the sensor nodes are resource constrained.
