He believed that all things are bound together into one system, a cosmic unity, in which nothing can be understood by itself and everything is related to everything else. He believed that the ultimate nature of this unity (universe) in rational, not physical. If we can understand it, especially if we can express our findings about it mathematically, then it must itself be rational, more akin to mind than matter. As Hegel declared, “the rational is the real and the real is the rational and everything that is, is knowable.” Hegel called this universal system the “Absolute.” He also called it God. Unlike orthodox Christianity, his God was not a being who made the heavens and the earth. Rather, his Good was the heavens and the earth. He (it) was everything that was, had been, or ever will be. Or, he (it) was sometimes viewed as Absolute Spirit who objectified himself as the universe. This view is called PANTEISM. Since his God is everything, then his God is always changing, evolving, growing, just as our minds do. In fact, since he is pure spirit, mind, intelligence, his clearest expressions of himself are AS human beings who are the most intelligence beings yet known in he universe.
