Technology has always helped shape society and mankind’s evolution as a whole, but the Internet has done so in a way like no other in history. Information has always been recorded and dispersed in some way or form, be it by story telling, ancient forms of scriptures, in print (after the advent of the printing press), then radio and television. All of these forms of communication have certain limitations that the Internet can overcome. Naturally this has caused quite some hype, which has led people to believe that we are living during a revolutionary time and that this new tool is going to reshape society.
