Opinion Paper Oil has been a big factor in two regional conflicts. The Islamic revolution in Iran increased tension between Iraq and Iran. Around 1980 disputes along borders flared into war. Saddam invaded Iran sizing the Shatt-Al-Arab, A key waterway. During the war they both used advanced missiles and Air Strikes against each other, more than 1 million people were killed. I think that we should have participated in this war because we want cheap oil but we should choose chose one side not support whom ever will give us cheap oil.
