2. Secondary Prevention A. This organism is spread through the respiratory route. Anyone who was in close proximity to the patients should receive prophylaxis. The girlfriend was probably the closest to the patient. She probably had the greatest exposure. Also, the patient’s roommates would be exposed because they live with him and are around him every day. The patient’s teammates would also have been exposed to the organism, but not too as great as extent as the others.
