a male figure for support, strength or for being told what to do.In hamlet these views are clearly shown, the play has only two female charecters both with similar charecteristics and treatment. Ophelia, the lover of hamlet is a women with weak charecteristics, she depends on hamlet and her father on everthing and it is in the past women were portrayed as weak , dependant and inferior to males. They were known to be house wives, who cooked cleaned and served males, but today the common woman is much more than just a house wife. Women have rights and can voice their own opinions. They can work and depend on themselves. Women no longer have to listen to what the dominant males in their lives tell them to do, they can do what they feel they need to do or what makes them happy.
