Robert Cavazos Psychology 3306 Writing Assignment #3 I feel that the family structure and the social support that we gain as individual is very important among ones own personality. I think the person who we are today is based on these two topic areas. We get our ideas, thoughts, and behavior from out family and from our friends. When we are at home we see our parents act and behave a certain way. When things are going great we see joy and happiness throughout our family. We pick up our parent’s vibes that they have and embed those vibes into our own personality, but we also receive negative vibes from our family when things aren’t going so great with in the family. We might see our parents in denial our in a state of displacement. From our friends we learn how to act among genders other than our own. Some of us confide in our friends more than we do our own parents, we look for that social support that we don’t find at home. We learn by what our friends are doing by observation and modeling. If we like the skills that have, such as be very social or outgoing, we then try to imitate those skills that they have. When I talk about family structure I mean how a family interacts with one another, the emotions and behavior in the family structure. As for social support I am talking about the skills that we learn from our friends that can’t be thought or learn within the family structure.
