Jackie Roosevelt Robinson: An American Hero
The essay I will be writing about today is about Jackie Roosevelt Robinson, and how he had courage to do what he did. I choose him because he had alot of strength to go through what he went through. In the following I will tell you about his childhood and about his baseball career. Jackie Robinson grew up in Cairo, Georgia. He grew up with a family of sharecroppers. Jackie Roosevelt Robinson attended Pasadena Junior College (which is now called Pasadena City College) in California. He also attended University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). In 1941 Jackie Roosevelt Robinson left college to join the United States Army. After graduating from Officers Candidate School. He became Second Lieutenant in what was then a segregated army. Jackie Roosevelt Robinson's baseball career was one of the most hard fought battles with racism that I have heard of.
