NUTRITION IN A NUTSHELL OVERVIEW This lesson is designed to help students gain an understanding of the peanut industry. Students will be involved in class discussions of the peanuts growth, history, types, and products. They will use maps to show production areas and also watch a video. CONNECTION TO THE CURRICULUM This is a lesson for an introductory Agriculture class. The lesson is also related to Geography, History, Science, and Math. THEMES AND STANDARDS Themes: 1- Location 2- Place 3- Human – Environment Interaction 4- Movement 5- Regions Introduction to Agriculture Standards: A.2 Explore new technologies in animal science, plant science, environmental science, and agricultural engineering. B.3 Explain the processing and distribution of agricultural products. Geography for Life Standards: 1. How to use a map and other geographic representations, tools, and technologies to acquire, process, and report information for a spatial perspective. 3. How to analyze the spatial organization of people, places, and environments on earth’s surface.
