Friday 5Dec03 Discerning 1. Discerning of spirits is such a vital and needed gift to the body of Christ. a. Because of the lack of the gift of discerning of spirits. 1. A lot of deception has gone on in the body of Christ 2. A lot of demonic manifestations have happened in church services 3. That were thought to be the Holy Ghost, but was not.. This is a needed gift.. 1 Cor. 12:8-10 - ...for to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (9) to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; (10) To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. The discerning of Spirits is defined as: a supernatural look into the spiritual realm. The discerning of spirits gives one the power to look into the supernatural realm.. “To discern,” means to perceive by seeing or hearing. Therefore, the discerning of spirits is the same as seeing or hearing into the realm of the spirits. Seeing into eternity.. When the Spirit of God lets it happen. a. It is called a called revelation gift.. (Along with the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge) 1. Discerning the spirit behind the behaviour if you will 2. Supernatural manifestations come from different sources 3. Not only devils and demons (I will mention in just a minute) 1John 4:1: Beloved believe not every spirit , but try the spirits wheter they are of God. Because many false prophets are gone out into the world b. In the book of Revelation; Jesus says: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. Rev 3:18 c. That we see what we need to see and hear what we need to hear. d. This gift is not just seeing devils and demons-It deals with spirits that exist in the spirit realm-whether divine, human or demonic. TWO SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS 1. ruled by natural and spiritual leaders. NATURAL KINGDOMS: All people live in a natural kingdom of this world 1. ruled by an actual king or political leader The Bible speaks of these natural kingdoms as "kingdoms of the world". The kingdoms of the world have come under the power and influence of Satan: Again, the Devil taketh Him (Jesus) up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if you wilt fall down and worship me. (Matthew 4:8-9) 2Cor 4:4: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which berlieve not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of Gdo , should shine unto them SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS: In addition to the natural kingdoms of this world there are two spiritual kingdoms: The Kingdom of Satan and the Kingdom Of God. Every person alive is a resident of one of these two kingdoms.
