Making Tourists Feel Safe People have always traveled. Whether for pleasure or for business, today more than ever tourist is susceptible to pickpockets and thieves. Why are travelers so easily targeted? There are several reasons that robbers target people on vacation. There are also numerous ways that vacationers can protect themselves against criminals. Tourists are usually victims of robbers because they are not concentrating on their money. When people are on vacation, most people have the “it won’t happen to me mentality” and think that they can go off and have fun without worrying about where there money is. Additionally, people on vacation usually carry large sums of money with them, enough for the duration of the trip. A lot of times, there is not a lot of local support in the vacation area, or there are too many people in one area for the police to cover.
