Background to Fight Club *Fight club was released in 1999, directed by David Fincher. The three main roles are played by ed Norton as the anonymous narrator referred to as jack, Bradd Pitt as Tyler Durden and Helena Bonham-Carter as Marla singer. *The movie opens at the end of the film where the story is being told to us by the main character who remains anonymous, he then begins to tell the story from the beginning and we are taken back in time. *It begins with the narrator revealing himself to use, showing us an insight into his life where he works and his apartment. He is clearly not happy with the way his life is and he reveals to us that he cant sleep. The only way he finds peace and is able to sleep is by going to self help classes and crying it out, this somehow enables him to sleep.
